Michael Knight received his call under an old revival tent with sawdust floors at sixteen. His catholic heritage was merged as a child when his family converted to the Pentecostal movement through the ministry of the Happy Goodmans. He later received the baptism of the Holy Spirit standing in the aisles of America’s oldest Pentecostal church. In 1995, he served as a senior youth pastor for Mike Purkey at Lenexa Christian Center, an Assemblies of God church.
His wealth of experience covers some of the nation’s largest youth ministries and inner-city and Word of Faith church plants. He has served as the National Director of Youth Ministry for the International Pentecostal Holiness Church, and as the National Church Planting Coordinator for the Churches of God (Cleveland, TN). He holds a Bachelor of Science from Lee University, a Master’s of Divinity from the Church of God Seminary, a Doctorate of Strategic Leadership from Regent University, and currently finalizing a second doctorate of degree from the University of Birmingham, U.K. He currently resides in Madisonville, Kentucky, with his wife Jennie and three children, Lillie, Ella, and Aidan, where together they pastor the twelve-hundred member Covenant Community Church.
Covenant Community Church (CCC) was birthed and established on August 15, 2000. Prior to our first Sunday morning service, we had 3 small groups that developed into 3 home groups-each holding around a hundred people. These home groups were all connected as Pastor Michael and his early leadership team would video tape lessons sharing with each home group the vision, purpose, mission, and other aspects of the church’s DNA.
It was vitally important to us that we secure a strong foundation during this early development process so everyone was taught the same information.
Covenant Community Church is a place for everyone! It doesn’t matter how you dress—blue jeans and boots or suit and tie—come and be comfortable as you are. Community worship is a personal experience where you won’t be pushed or pressured to perform; tailored for a diverse intellectual-charismatic congregation, we strive to ensure that our contemporary services afford worshipers of diverse theological backgrounds an opportunity to worship.
Ask around. Two words you probably won’t hear used to describe Covenant Community Church are typical and predictable. That’s because we live out the gospel in creative, unique ways—not just from the pulpit, but in everything we do. At Covenant Community Church, there are no boundaries to showing God’s love. We go where God leads and do what God calls us to do.
Our goal is reaching people, and to do that, we’ll use whatever tools are at our disposal—media technology, community outreach events, and even good old-fashioned door-to-door evangelism. We are dedicated to reaching lost souls for Christ while there is still time no matter what it takes.
Building strong families is important to us, because strong families will reproduce even more strong families. Whether you’re single or married, young or old, raising your children or waiting for the day when you’ll have your first child, we want to welcome you into our family. Covenant Community Church is a place you can call home. This is a place for you.
We desire to see the lives of those in our community developed into fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ through an emphasis on strong relationships and quality Christian education.
Covenant Community Church believes the entirety of the Bible to be completely and equally inspired and that it is the written Word of God.
We desire to present authentic Christianity to our families, community, country, and world.
