Peace I Leave With You

What is it that you are afraid of? For some it is a person or maybe an event that you are anticipating happening. Many people have a fear of being exposed of the things that they are hiding. Others have control issues and are afraid everything is not going to go the way they plan. Some folks are afraid of being alone.

I have fallen prey to all of these tactics of the enemy and still deal with many of them from time to time. The one thing that always comforts me when these thoughts come to me, is the Word of God that has been placed in my heart. Did you know that there are over 365 scriptures in the Bible that reference not to fear? Now tell me that God was not there for you at the last instance you were exposed to fear. He knew we were going to have issues in this area or He wouldn’t have made so may reference in the Bible.

One thing is for sure, if you believe every word in the Bible is total truth, you have no reason to fear any person, thing, or situation. Jesus tells us in John 14:27 “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” I take Him at His Word. If you read the scriptures before this passage you will find that the Holy Spirit is there at all times to comfort us and remind us of His Word.

So, whatever it is that is digging at you today. As Taylor Swift says: shake it off! There is nothing that is going to take God by surprise. Live like it is your last day and do not be afraid of anything. Only God has control of your soul if you believe in Jesus. If this is your last day and you believe, things are fixing to get really good.

1 Chronicles 16:28- (NLT) O nations of the world, recognize the Lord,
recognize that the Lord is glorious and strong. Give to the Lord the glory he deserves! Bring your offering and come into his presence. Worship the Lord in all his holy splendor. Let all the earth tremble before him. The world stands firm and cannot be shaken.

Psalm 119:9-16  (HCSB) How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping Your word. I have sought You with all my heart; don’t let me wander from Your commands. I have treasured Your word in my heart so that I may not sin against You. Lord, may You be praised; teach me Your statutes. With my lips I proclaim all the judgments from Your mouth. I rejoice in the way revealed by Your decrees as much as in all riches. I will meditate on Your precepts and think about Your ways. I will delight in Your statutes; I will not forget Your word.

You are mysterious in ways, but always show me who you are every day.  Most days I forget to look for you. You still carry me and bless my steps on those days too. You are glorious to a point that I cannot explain. Why you would use a wretched fool like me really makes me wonder at times, but I can only revert back to your Word, to see what it says about me. It says I’m blessed, saved and being saved, You are my Shepard, you know every hair on my head, I hope my name is in the lambs book of life, you say the rocks will cry out if I don’t, you have left to prepare a place for me and shall return soon. Glory be to you, Papa.

Yes, Papa, you are my very existence. I am so sorry I have spent so many years chasing things that could not fulfill my destiny. I gladly give all of those false hopes and dreams to you today and ask that you renew my mind so that you can begin to enlighten my spirit. Let your love flow through every part of my soul. Sow Your Word into the lining of my heart so I will not forget it. Give me strength for today to fight the temptation and the wisdom to know when it has turned into sin. Guide my every step as I walk on this earth you placed under my feet. Help me to encourage my brothers and sister through my words. Speak to my spirit the words you will have me say and write.

I love you, Papa, and thank you for waking me up this morning.
