The Desires of Your Heart

Psalms 37:4 – “Take Delight in the Lord and he will give you your heart’s desires”

Jeremiah 1:  (NKJV)  “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

The desires of your heart and what you think you want can vary and may not line up.  So as God is the Almighty, Alpha, and Omega, He knows our true heart’s desire and when we are best equipped to handle them.  His timing is not our timing.

My family and I have recently been reminded of this over and over again as we have pondered on the disappointment of not receiving what we felt we desired and longed for.  Only to be reminded, once again, that God knows the passion and desire of hearts more intimately than we do.  He, in fact, put them there to be developed and expressed, so He knows the exact moment, time, and situation in which those desires will flourish and come to being.

Sometimes we confuse our fleshly WANTS with those natural longings in us intended to be filled by your relationship with God.  But as you begin to surrender yourself and let God move instead of flesh, those true heart’s desires will be revealed as well as the Lord himself – and he will not leave nor forsake, He will not “leave you hanging”, just trust in his timing and infinite wisdom.

Steps are Ordered

Esther 4:14 (NIV) For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

Proverbs 3:4-6 (AMPC) So shall you find favor, good understanding, and high esteem in the sight [or judgment] of God and man. Lean on, trust in, and be confident in the Lord with all your heart and mind and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know, recognize, and acknowledge Him, and He will direct and make straight and plain your paths.

In a season of frustration or in a season that is really tough, when it seems that everything is going wrong, it is often hard to remember that God has us in the palm of His hands….that He has truly ordered our steps and that He has real concrete plans for our future. But God has ordered our steps and He has given us access, favor, and positioned us in certain places, around certain people for a specific reason.

It’s up to us to steward all that we have been given. Normally we think of being a good steward as it relates to our finances. But a steward is a manager. He wants us to manage our time well, manage the positions that we have well, manage our relationships in holiness, manage our homes in godliness… He has called us to our respective workplaces. He has called us to be godly examples in our homes and in our communities.

It’s up to us to allow God to use us everywhere that we are placed, everywhere that we go, we must represent Him with honor. He says that we will find His favor when we trust Him because we acknowledge that He is directing our steps and paths. Who knows that you have come to your position/job for such a time as this…. To express His love, extend His grace and mercy, to be His hands and feet, and lead those who are around us to His loving embrace. Who else will represent Him but for us, His children made in His likeness.

Pray today and ask God to give you His understanding and to help you to increase in trusting Him with full confidence and assurance that you are where you are because you are on an assignment from the Most High God. Recognize and acknowledge Him that He has your best interest at heart. Thank Him for using you and for giving you the strength that you need to accomplish it well. God can find someone else to do what He called you to do, but then you will miss out on the reward and blessing. Stand firm in the faith today and don’t rely on your thoughts and opinions, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and be grateful for all that you have and are a part of because your steps are ordered.
