Mark 14:26-31, 14:53-54, 14:66-72; John 21:1-19
The night Jesus was arrested, Peter followed behind Jesus and the guards to see what would happen. As Peter waited in the courtyard, he was recognized as one of Jesus' disciples. Peter denied knowing Jesus three times in a row that evening because he was afraid. When he realized what he had done, he wept and was sorry. Later, after the Resurrection, Jesus appeared to Peter, and Peter was able to tell his Lord that he loved him! Three times Jesus asked Peter if Peter loved Him. Three times Peter answered yes! Jesus forgave Peter and commissioned him as a leader in the church.
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen
